A formula for social peace
The “creation of domestic peace and a call for social restoration” mentioned by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo?an during his interview with Hürriyet daily Editor-in-Chief Ertu?rul Özkök was in fact a signal of the coming era in Turkey.
Don’t let the fact that a more defined pronouncement by Özkök was not expected create a sense of disappointment. When topics such as compromise or social restoration are put on the table by various groups, it is not a situation for bargaining in the way of “We’ll take care of this, you fix the other one.” What we are talking about here is, after all, changing the very climate of the nation. And when this happens, different responsibilities fall on everyone in the nation. In the situation we are in now, it is Erdo?an who needs to shoulder the most responsibility and take the initiative. Yes, this is the weight that rests on the shoulders of the nation’s most powerful political figure; not so much for today as for the future that lies ahead of us.
